Jessica, an email subscriber, asks: “I’m a life coach, how can I increase exposure?”

There are a lot of ways you can increase exposure. One way is by doing paid ads, like on using Facebook ads for example.

I want to give you a few resources: you can go to Google and type in “Facebook dark post” or “Facebook promoted post”. In today’s market, it’s the best way to put your message in front of the most targeted people in the world. Facebook has 1.19 billion users and the wealth of data they have is unparalleled. I would also recommend that you niche what you do and be specific on the audience you sell to. The more specific you are, the better you can talk with them on Facebook.

But Facebook is just one of the “social media” platforms. If you take me as an example, I have three weekly shows, which give tremendous exposure to my brand. Think of what you can give away as content on social media or what articles can you write. What kind of videos can you shoot with your phone or what kind of quotes can you publish online? The more exposure you have, the more choice you have in terms of who you accept as a client.

In my opinion, exposure is key. You need to get exposure, you need to get attention, which means you need to do the work. When I’m doing these live shows, it’s work. I love doing it but it’s putting in the work. You also need to find what you’re good at and then go hard on social media and really think of where your demographic is. Where does your average customer live? Is it more on LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook or Medium?

You need to think of where they are and my suggestion is, use as much ammo as you can, “Be Everywhere”. You need to create attention. You need to get attention for yourself which means you need to be publishing and redistributing content online.

Life coaching is a very competitive field because there are so many life coaches. If you’re a life coach and you’ve actually experienced loss and winning, that’s a great experience you can share. But if you have worked in a job your whole life and you don’t have that much experience, it might be tougher to find topics to talk about. In that case, I would suggest that you start a daily video and talk about clients or what you’re doing, recording yourself wherever you are and using Periscope and Meerkat to build a following.

The key to increasing exposure is distributing as much content possible and in the most strategic way you can. The more content you distribute, the more attention you get and the more money you can ask for the services you sell.

Think of Kim Kardashian: she is EVERYWHERE. Every day there’s an article in gossip magazines or on the internet. She is one of the highest paid entertainers in the world because she knows how to get attention. If you want to command the big bucks in your business, you need to be omnipresent. Now go crush it!
