From video to podcast
Video is only the first step, but it’s always important to start with it, because once you have it, you can turn it into an audio podcast. The whole system that we have is really repurposing content and once you have a video, you can just pull the audio from it.
If you don’t know how to do it, just get someone on a site like Upwork. There are millions of people on that site who are very good service providers. They can get the audio off your video in a few minutes. Then, you can publish it as a podcast. People come and go and it’s the same thing with all these new apps. People will try podcast for a few weeks or a few months, then they’ll be like, “This is exhausting. I don’t want to do it anymore” and they’ll stop. If you want to use this system, you definitely need to do this consistently.
You have to publish your video out, because you are hitting people who are visual. I would recommend that you use a free software like Audacity or Camtasia for taking the audio out of your video. I know Camtasia does Mac and it has been around for years. It’s a really a good service and a good software. We publish our audio on SoundCloud, Stitcher and on iTunes. We obviously publish it on my blog, matthiasmazur.com, where we have a section with all my podcasts.
I do 4 weekly shows plus my audio podcast, but we take all these content from all these video shows and put them online in audio format. We’re really repurposing all the content in different ways such as posting on iTunes, Stitcher and SoundCloud. If you’re going to post online, you might as well post EVERYWHERE.
Some people are using or have used SoundCloud. I don’t really like it, but it’s another place that you can post. There are a lot of rumors about it going down soon, because they’re having a lot of legal issues with big groups. If you Google their lawsuits, you’ll see that at this moment, they’re very close to being in big trouble, but at the moment it’s a great place to publish, because it’s free exposure. If you have something going on in audio which is based on a video, just post it on those 3 places: SoundCloud, stitcher.com and iTunes.
We talked about a video becoming an audio, now from an audio you’re going to repurpose that in another format: text.
